Mastering the Basics

When we say we get it, we mean we get it, sis. At Sesh, we’re performing the exact same balancing act you are—we’re moms, coaches, bosses, business owners, besties, and so much more—and we know that making your fitness a priority can seem impossible.

If you’re looking for some common-sense steps you can follow to take control of your journey and create consistent change, we’ve got you. Starting may be the hardest part, but it doesn’t have to be crazy complicated. Let’s take a look at what you can do when you’re not doing everything else.

Don’t buy it

You don’t need a medicine cabinet of supplements and fat burners to get healthy, and you don’t need a $$$ stationary bike to get fit. You can achieve your goals your way and at your own pace.

Don’t skimp on sleep

Getting enough sleep allows your body to rest and recover from the day before.

Tips for getting enough sleep:

  • Create a solid bedtime routine
  • Read up on sleep hygiene and improving your quality of sleep
  • Prioritize sleep over screen time

Hit your macros

Hitting your macros is essential to meet your specific fitness and wellness goals. Each macronutrient plays a different role in the body, and it’s crucial that you’re striking the right balance, so make a plan and stick to it.

Tips for hitting your macros:

  • Set up your MacrosFirst account with your goals as calculated by the Sesh App
  • Pre-log your meals into MacrosFirst to make sure you’re on track
  • Create a weekly menu and use it to make your grocery lists
  • Meal prep to eliminate the guesswork every day
  • Prioritize your protein – Have a “palm-sized” portion of protein at each meal.
  • Wash and prep veggies and fruits so they’re ready to cook with or snack on

Drink 80-128 oz. of water

Water plays a huge role in your overall wellness. From cognitive functions like decision-making and impulse control to muscle recovery, water helps make the most of the workouts you do and the food you eat. Without it, expect increased soreness, fatigue, digestive problems, and longer recovery periods.

Tips for getting enough water:

  • Keep a water bottle with you at all times
  • Start first thing in the morning—even before that first cup of coffee

Set realistic goals

We know it’s tempting to dive full speed into your wellness journey but by over-promising, you set yourself up to fail. So focus on small goals you can achieve. Every small victory adds up, so take on sustainable changes that you can be consistent with.

Tips for setting realistic goals:

  • Plan for fewer workouts (and fewer excuses) during the workweek
  • Take a look at your current average step count and find ways to increase it over time.

Starting small? We love that for you. Sustainable, consistent change is the key to long-term success and we can’t wait to see where your Sesh journey takes you! Want a little extra accountability?
